I was the person who said I’d NEVER get an e-reader. My reasoning was sincere, my logic was concrete, and my passion was real. Books, in there most organic state, have defined and redefined who I am. I lose myself in books and find myself in every book I read. The covers, when traced my by fingers, pour images into me that paint my inner most parts. The scent of ink mingled with pieces of paper enthralls me and I’m draw in for more.
But recently, practicality harnessed my affections and I decided to push myself to greater technological limits and buy a Kindle. I feared I would hate it but when I held it, scanned the words so easily with my eyes, and realized with the money I spent on books I’d have over 3 Kindles I decided it was a good time to buy one. So far, I have to be honest and say, I LOVE MY KINDLE.
I was a few chapters into The Hunger Games when I purchased the Kindle and now I’m in the third book of the series, Mockingjay. It’s so beyond easy to read with this device I’m in awe of it every time I pick it up. My frustrations with my iPad was simple: the LCD screen hurt my eyes. Anything that deat with focusing heavily on text (particularly reading) was a no no for me.
But thankfully the purpose of the Kindle touch (the version I have) is to recreate and mimic the average book experience with e-ink. I’ve been able to read for HOURS without the glare and sharpness that forced me to squint my eyes and pause every few paragraphs.
I’m totally on Team Kindle and suggest you pick up a Kindle and shake your pom poms for Amazon & Kindle!!
Oh and my case is super fab! NYTimes case which highlights the NYC skyline. My favorite newspaper, my favorite city, in my favorite display (Black and white). Yeah, it was a no brainer!
