Luke 24:15 & 16 says, “While they were talking and discussing, Jesus Himself approached and began traveling with them. But their eyes were prevented from recognizing Him.”
Everyone is on a journey; each lifetime consists of roads intertwined into another. Which road are you on right now? Is it a steep road leading you up hill or a dusty road among the valley? Everyone, everywhere is walking on a road.
In this passage of scripture, two men were also on an ordinary road and as they walked together, Jesus showed up. Today, Jesus will walk next to you on the same road you’re traveling on too. A road that once seemed lonely will receive extra company. A road that seemed boring will suddenly be given new life. A road that seemed pointless will have new found meaning.
Jesus, appearing on your road, will often come in an unlikely form. His appearing may be a word of encouragement, a Bible verse that keeps finding its way to you, or the blessings of peace in your home. In any event, Jesus will show up.
As the story turns out, these two travelers will soon see clearly that they are walking with the Christ. But today, I want us to focus on Jesus showing up and them initially being unaware. If you are wandering down a road today just remember Jesus can and will show up to travel with you. You may not know when but He will. Believe He still appears because He does.
Don’t ever think you’ll be on your life’s journey without Jesus because the truth is, you won’t be. He may already be with you–you just can’t recognize it…yet.
